WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Adam Moundir of Old Dominion’s men’s tennis team won the Consolation Finals of the A2 Singles Draw at the 2015 Wake Forest Invite, while Moundir and teammate Michael Weindl claimed second place in the A3 Doubles Draw on Sunday.
In the Consolation Finals of the A2 Singles Draw, No 1 seeded Moundir took down Wofford’s Haris Poric in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.
No. 1 seeded Moundir and Weidnl ended up falling in the Finals of the A3 Doubles Draw to Wake Forest’s No. 2 seeded tandem Sam Bloom and Kevion Tabrizi in heartbreak and tiebreak fashion 8-7(4).
Theophile Lanthiez ended up winning the 13th place bracket on Sunday, after beating Jordan Hart of Davidson 7-6(5), 6-4.
TOUGH COMPETITION
The 18 teams that competed in Winston-Salem this weekend: Wake Forest, Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Indiana, NC State, Liberty, Tennessee Tech, East Carolina, UNCG, Navy, Dartmouth, Penn, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Norfolk State and Old Dominion.
The Wake Forest Invite is the last invitational of the fall season for the Monarchs as a team, but Moundir and Kijametovic will travel to Flushing, N.Y. next week to compete in the National Indoor Championships at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center to be held on Nov. 12-15.
