ODUSports.com takes a closer look this week at offensive lineman, Chad Hendricks.
Q: Why did you choose Old Dominion?
A: I had never heard of Old Dominion at first, and when I was coming out of high school I was looking for an Army or Navy ROTC program. So I googled “Old Dominion” and found out they also had a really good football team. Sure enough, a couple months later one of the coaches asked if I wanted to play college football, and I said “I sure do.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hampton Roads?
A: My favorite thing about Hampton Roads is that there is so much variety and so many things to do. I am from a very rural town and I love being around water, and there are a thousand more things to do around here than there are back home.
Q: What is your major?
A: My major is business administration.
Q: When did you start playing football?
A: I started playing football in third grade.
Q: What got you into football?
A: My mother got me into football because she knew sports would be a good thing for a kid growing up.
Q: What other sports did you play growing up?
A: I played soccer and baseball, too.
Q: Who is your role model?
A: My role model would have to be my master gunnery sergeant in high school. He was my assistant Naval Science instructor. He actually passed away from a heart attack last year, but he is the man I want to be.
Q: Favorite food?
A: My favorite food is a rib eye marinated by me.
Q: Favorite music artist?
A: My favorite music artist is Theory of a Deadman.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: I would have to say Interstellar.
Q: Favorite athlete?
A: My favorite athlete is Ronda Rousey.
Q: One place you want to travel to?
A: I would have to say Greece. It has great history and landscape.
Q: Favorite actor/actress?
A: My favorite actor is Tom Hanks.
Q: Favorite part of gameday?
A: My favorite part of gameday is the bus ride over. I like the police escort because it makes you feel high and mighty.
