NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University football offensive lineman Tyler Compton was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Thursday.
A redshirt junior from Virginia Beach, Compton becomes the first Monarch football player to earn Academic All-District twice in his career. He received his under graduate in two and a half years with a degree in mathematics while posting a 3.92 GPA. He is currently taking classes for his Master’s in business administration and has a 4.0 GPA.
Compton has played in all eight games so far this season, starting two games. For his career he has played in 26 games with 10 starts.
To be nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
