WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Old Dominion men’s basketball team (3-3) will travel to take on rival William & Mary (4-2) on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 7:00 p.m. The Monarchs lead the all-time series against the Tribe, 67-19.

The Monarchs will be looking to put an end to their three-game skid on Tuesday night, after starting the season 3-0. Most recently, ODU fell to VCU in the 101st all-time meeting by a 76-67 score on Saturday afternoon at the Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond, Va. The game experienced a total of six ties and four lead changes.

Aaron Bacote (3-4 3PT FG) led all scorers with 21 points, while Trey Freeman followed with 17 points, six assists and two steals. Jordan Baker chipped in eight points and five rebounds, while Zoran Talley went for seven points and five rebounds. Ambrose Mosley added six points and six rebounds.

The Rams utilized a 10-1 run down the stretch to claim a 68-56 lead with 1:15 to play before ultimately pulling out the victory. VCU shot 60% (12-20) from the floor and 50% (6-12) from three in the second half. The Monarchs shot 47.1% from the charity stripe going 8-17 for the contest.

For the season, Freeman is leading the way for the Monarchs averaging 17.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 2.6 apg. Bacote is averaging 13.5 points a contest, while Zoran Talley and Nik Biberaj are each averaging 7.0 points per outing. Denzell Taylor currently leads ODU with 34 rebounds (5.7 per game).

Old Dominion is averaging 65.5 points a game, while holding opponents to 59.8 points on 38.1% shooting from the floor. The Monarchs average 12.2 forced turnovers per contest.

MEET THE TRIBE
The Tribe also started the season 3-0, most notably taking down N.C. State on the road, 85-68. W&M also has picked up wins against Liberty (70-59), Washington Adventist (85-60) and Hampton (88-67).

Most recently, William & Mary suffered a last-second 79-77 setback at Howard on Saturday afternoon. James Daniell III hit a deep 3-pointer from the right side with three seconds remaining to give the Bison its only lead of the contest. The Tribe fell to 4-2 on the season. The Tribe also fell at Dayton in heartbreaking fashion, 69-66.

William & Mary is led by Tony Shaver, a two-time CAA Coach of the Year and National Mid-Major Coach of the Year finalist. Shaver led the Tribe’s first CAA regular season Championship in 17 years during the 2014-15 campaign. Shaver is W&M’s all-time winningest head coach with 156 victories over his 12 seasons on the Green and Gold sidelines.

So far this season, W&M has three players averaging double figures: Omar Prewitt (17.3 ppg and 6.5 rpg), Daniel Dixon (15.0 ppg and 4.3 rpg) and Terry Tarpey (10.5 ppg and 9.5 rpg). William & Mary enters Tuesday night’s contest hitting 41.3% from deep, while connecting on 8.3 per game.
