ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Old Dominion sailing team turned in a seventh place finish out of 18 teams at the MAISA Coed Conference Championship War Memorial Regatta hosted by Cornell. By placing in the top eight, ODU qualified to compete in the Atlantic Coast Coed’s Regatta in Norfolk on Saturday, Nov. 14.
In Division A, Esteban Forrer and Gabriel Smith sailed to a seventh place finish after recording four top-five finishes in the eight individual races. The duo placed ahead of sailors from UVA, Navy and Hampton.
Augie Dale, Kaylie Gallagher, Cady Johnson and Joe David notched an eighth place finish in Division B, as the four Monarchs teamed up to secure a runner-up finish in the first race and placed in the top five in two others.
The Monarch sailing team hits the water again on Friday, Nov. 6 at the Hap Moore Team Race in New London, Conn. and at the ICSA Singlehanded National Championships here in Norfolk.
