NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion sailing team hosted the Coed Atlantic Coast Championship Regatta this weekend in Norfolk and turned in a sixth place finish among the 18 participating schools.
The Monarch duo of Esteban Forrer and Gabriel Smith notched a sixth place finish in Division A, as they recorded five top-five finishes out of the 10 contested races. Georgetown claimed first in Division A, and Yale and the Coast Guard Academy rounded out the top three.
In Division B, the Monarchs’ Augie Dale, Cady Johnson and Kaylie Gallagher raced to a 10th place finish, placing ahead of Harvard and Boston. The ODU trio recorded three top-five finishes out of the 10 races. The Coast Guard Academy clinched Division B while the College of Charleston placed second and Boston College claimed third.
Overall, the Coast Guard Academy nabbed the championship while Yale finished runner-up and Georgetown took third.
The ODU sailing team heads to Charleston, South Carolina this weekend to compete in the ICSA Match Race National Championship beginning Friday, Nov. 20.
