NORFOLK, Va.  –The Old Dominion women’s soccer team (7-11-1, 5-4-1) played to a 1-1 double overtime draw with Middle Tennessee (9-5-4, 5-2-3) on Sunday afternoon at the ODU Soccer Complex in what was the 2015 regular season finale. With the result, ODU has earned the No. 6 seed in the upcoming C-USA Tournament in Miami, Fla. and will take on No. 3 seeded Florida Atlantic on Wednesday at a time TBD.

Just two minutes and 31 seconds into the match, Old Dominion’s Grace Haverly played a through-ball towards the center of the box, which found Madison Hogan in stride, who beat MT’s Kelsey Brouwer one-on-one for the Lady Monarch goal and early 1-0 lead. The goal was Hogan’s sixth of the season, while the assist was Haverly’s second of the year.

Less than two minutes later, Middle Tennessee answered back with a goal of its own, when Courteney Gibson played a short cross from the right side into the box, which Morgan Mauck put away to tie the contest at 1-1. The goal was Mauck’s fourth of the season.

The match remained tied at 1-1 heading into the locker rooms at halftime, with the shot count also tied at 1-1 and MT holding a 2-1 advantage in the corner kick department.

Despite eight Middle Tennessee and seven Old Dominion second half shots, the second half went by scoreless, sending the match into overtime with the game tied at 1-1. The Blue Raiders fired off the only five corners of the second half.

Each team attempted one shot in the first overtime session, while Old Dominion attempted the only corner of the segment; however, the match remained tied at 1-1, forcing a second overtime period.

The second overtime experienced five ODU shots and two from MT, while Old Dominion took the only corner of the final 10 minutes, but the score stayed even at 1-1, ending in a draw and giving both squads one final point in the C-USA standings.

For the ballgame, the Lady Soccer Monarchs outshot the blue Raiders 18-16, while Middle Tennessee held a 7-3 advantage for corner kicks. For the match, Erin Kinz made five saves and MT’s Kelsey Brouwer compiled nine.
