NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women’s basketball video coordinator and former Lady Monarchs standout player, Pam Huntley, has been hired as an assistant coach at the University of Illinois Chicago, as announced by head coach Karen Barefoot.
“Pam did a wonderful job for us in the position we created four years ago and I want to thank her for her positive energy and dedication to our program,” Barefoot noted. “We wish her all the best in her future coaching endeavors!”
Huntley assisted the coaching staff during practices and games, as well as managed offensive play tracking, game film coordination, video playbook creation, recruit database coordination and oversaw film exchange.
Prior to joining the ODU staff, Huntley was the video coordinator at the Hoop Madness Basketball Camp in Virginia Beach and Houston, Texas. She filmed and edited activities and special events. She also has spent time serving as a basketball camp counselor, group home counselor, assistant activity director at Bayside Elementary and a Paraprofessional at Northside Middle School in Norfolk.
As a player at Old Dominion, Huntley earned First Team All-CAA honors and was chosen as one of the leagues top defenders in 1993. She also garnered the CAA Tournament MVP award as a senior and was named to the CAA Basketball Legends Team in 2009. Huntley graduated with a recreation and leisure studies degree from Old Dominion in 1993.
“I want to thank coach Barefoot and her staff for everything that they have done for me,” said Huntley. “I learned a lot during my time with the ODU women’s basketball team and I will treasure all the friends and memories that I made.”
