BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- After two days of competition, the Lady Monarch golf team is in third place at the Fighting Camel Classic at the Keith Hills Golf Club in Buies Creek, N.C. ODU freshman Sana Tufail ranks fifth among the 84 participants after shooting 74+76=150 (+6) in the first two rounds.
Campbell, who is hosting the event, is still on top of the team standings after extending its lead to 16 by shooting 306+301=607 in the first two rounds, while Mercer has moved up in the leaderboard to second place with a score of 313+310=623. ODU shot 306+318=624 through day two and is just one point behind Mercer.
On the player leaderboard, Old Dominion’s Sana Tufail fired 74+76=150 (+6) thus far, which puts her in fifth place. She has also recorded 24 pars, which is second-most of all golfers in the event.
ODU’s Charlotte De Corte is tied for 19th place after round two, while Maggie Simmermacher and Kate Vlasinova are tied with one another for 33rd.
Simmermacher has sunk five birdies through two rounds of the tournament, and DeCorte, Vlasinova and Tufail each have three to their credit. Additionally, Simmermacher has recorded a par five average of 4.75 (-2), which is second-best of all golfers.
The Fighting Camel Classic resumes with the third and final round of play on Tuesday morning.
