PINEHURST, N.C. – Kate Vlasinova wrapped up day one of the Pinehurst Challenge in fourth place out of 104 golfers, as three Lady Monarchs are participating in the event as individuals. After playing two rounds on Monday, Vlasinova shot a 70 in round one and a 68 in round two and currently sits 6-under par.

ODU’s Rachel Walker is in a three-way tie for 11th place after shooting 71 in the first two rounds. She will enter the third and final round on day two of the event at 2-under par.

Lady Monarch freshman Sana Tufail shot a 73 in both rounds on Monday and is tied for 33rd place. Tufail will enter the final day of the tournament 2-over par.

Alessandra Liu of William & Mary and Louise Olsson of the College of Charleston lead the pack in a tie for first place and are 8-under par. Liu shot the best round of golf in the 19-year history of  the tournament in round two with a 65. Emily Brooks of Elon is 7-under par and in third place.

Vlasinova leads all golfers in the tournament after day one with a par four average of 3.83 and is tied for third with nine birdies.

Rachel Walker and Sana Tufail each have one eagle to their credit through two rounds of golf.
