Monarchs Take Sixth at David Lee Arnoff Trophy

NORFOLK, Va. – Members of the Old Dominion sailing team competed in three different events over the course of the weekend, as the Monarchs participated in the Carl Van Duyne Regatta, David Lee Arnoff Trophy and the Navy Fall Women’s.

At the Carl Van Duyne Regatta in Kings Point, N.Y., the Monarchs’ Joe David finished in 10th place while ODU’s Ethan Lounsbury turned in a 14th place finish among the 18 singlehanded boats. Both David and Lounsbury claimed a first place finish in one of the 13 individual races, respectively.

Racing in the David Lee Arnoff Trophy, Old Dominion placed sixth out of the 17 participating teams. In Division A, Jeremy Herrin and Carter Little claimed sixth place for the Monarchs, while Lee Dumaliang and Dane Pedersen managed a fifth place finish in Division B.

At the Navy Fall Women’s Regatta in Annapolis, Md., Old Dominion placed 14th as a team. Olivia Windemuller, Jocelyn Rovniak and Kaylie Gallagher took 14th in Division A, while Grace Mason, Cady Johnson and Katelyn Talley earned 10th in Division B.

The ODU sailing team is back in action Saturday, Oct. 17 in three separate events, as the Monarchs will take part in the Henry Luce/2nd War Qualifier in Norfolk, Va., the Truxton Umsted in Annapolis, Md. and the Yale Women’s Regatta in New Haven, Conn.
