NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 13 Old Dominion field hockey team is coming off a successful 2-0 showing last weekend and will look to continue its winning-streak against William & Mary on Friday for its only game of the week. The Lady Monarchs will host the Tribe at 7:00 p.m. at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex, marking the 58th meeting between the two programs.

ODU improved to 3-1 on the season after taking down No. 19 Michigan State, 4-3, last Friday. The Lady Monarchs went on a 4-0 run in nine minutes at the start of the second half to secure the win. Danielle Grega led the offense with a goal and an assist, while rookie Amie Olton dished out two assists to record her first career points. Freshman keeper, Kealsie Robles, earned the start in goal and played the entire 70 minutes.

Old Dominion followed with a matchup with Kent State on Saturday, a team that made the NCAA Tournament last season. The Lady Monarchs picked up right where they left off and cruised to a 6-0 victory over the Golden Flashes. Four different players scored for ODU, with Casey Dolan and Grega leading the way with two goals apiece. Robles once again played the entire 70 minutes and anchored the ODU defense that allowed just three Kent State shots, recording the team’s first shutout of the season.

For their efforts, Robles was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, while Grega was named to the player of the week honor roll.

For the season, Sarah Breen leads the team with nine points on four goals and one assist, while Grega ranks second with seven points (3g, 1a). Robles has played 144:28 in goal for the Lady Monarchs and has posted a 1.45 goals-against average. Kelly Weaver has started in two games and has made 10 saves to hold a 2.14 goals-against average.

William & Mary enters the matchup with a 3-1 overall record after defeating Ohio (5-3) and Central Michigan (6-1) last weekend. Cammie Lloyd paced the offense with four goals, including a trio of goals against Ohio, scoring the Tribe’s first three markers in just 12 minutes and 53 seconds of game time. W&M outshot Ohio, 17-10, and collected eight penalty corners to the Bobcats’ five. Senior Meredith Savage finished with five saves in cage for the Tribe.

Against Central Michigan, Pippin Saunders led the way, scoring twice in 15 seconds during the first-half run and added an assist, while sophomore Erin Menges chipped in a goal and two assists for the second straight contest. Savage finished with three saves in goal for W&M, while the Tribe held a commanding 26-7 advantage in shots and a 10-2 cushion in penalty corners.

Saunders and Menges lead the team’s offense with double-digit points, posting 12 and 11 total points, respectively. Savage has played all 280 minutes in goal for the Tribe and has recorded 19 saves for a .704 save-percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average.
