IRVING, Texas – Old Dominion University running back Ray Lawry was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
A native of Woolwich, N.J, Lawry carried 28 times for 223 yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winning 45-yard score with 1:57 left, to give Old Dominion a 38-34 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
Lawry’s 223 yards leads the nation while his four touchdowns is tied for nation’s lead with East Carolina’s Chris Hairston.
A sophomore, Lawry reached career-highs in carries and rushing yards and was just one yard shy of ODU’s single-game record. The four touchdowns tied his own record that he also shares with Thomas DeMarco.
Lawry and the Monarchs host Norfolk State on Saturday in the home opener at 7 p.m. on ASN.
