Auburn, ALA. – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team (1-4-0) refused to go down without a fight to No. 11 Auburn (6-0-0) but were outlasted 1-0 in a game that was televised on the SEC Network Sunday afternoon.

"We were organized, and disciplined and I thought made it difficult for them to break us down," said ODU head coach Angie Hind. "To take a team of Auburn's quality all the way to 90 minutes, and the difference being a single set piece goal gives our squad much to be proud of and build on."

The Tigers and the Lady Monarchs battled for the first 26 minutes of play but were still scoreless when the game was paused for a lightning delay.

After an approximate 30-minute delay, the recharged Auburn soccer team wasted little time getting on the board as Brooke Ramsier placed corner, which found Courtney Schell, who headed it in from eight yards out to put the Tigers up 1-0 in the 29th minute.

The 1-0 difference would last into halftime, as the teams entered the locker rooms with Auburn leading the shot count 7-2. ODU goalkeeper Erin Kinz entered the intermission after making four saves against the high-powered Auburn attack.

In the second half ODU came out aggressively but could not manage to place a ball past Auburn’s stellar freshman goalkeeper Sarah Le Beau, who still has not surrendered a goal yet this season. The 1-0 victory lifted the Tigers to a 6-0-0 start for the season, while Old Dominion moves to 1-4-0.

For the ballgame, Auburn fired 11 shots and 12 corners, while ODU attempted three shots and three corners. Old Dominion's Erin Kinz compiled five saves while protecting the net for the Lady Soccer Monarchs. Le Beau finished the contest with one save for the Tigers.
