NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion swimming and diving team announced the hiring of Mike Jolly as an assistant coach. Jolly spent 2014-15 as an assistant at his alma mater, East Carolina.

“I’m excited to add Mike Jolly to our coaching staff. He brings a great deal of enthusiasm to the program and his dedication to the sport will be a great asset to our team," head coach Carol Withus said.

Jolly was a four-year letterwinner for the Pirates from 2009-13 and recorded the fifth-fastest backstroke time in school history.

Since graduating in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in recreation and leisure studies, Jolly spent the summers coaching Tanterra Swim Club in Olney, Maryland and the Hydro-Sonic Tiburones in Rockville, Marylan. Jolly helped lead Tanterra to a second-place finish in its division.

Last season, Jolly helped guide the Pirates to their first-ever American Athletic Conference title and the school’s first conference crown since winning the CAA Tournament in 1989.
