WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team (1-5-1) fell to No. 25 nationally ranked William & Mary (5-1-1) by a 3-0 score on Friday night at Albert-Daly Field in Williamsburg, Va. This is the first time since the 2012 season that William & Mary has been nationally ranked in the Top 25. The Green and Gold were ranked as high as No. 20 in 2012.

In the 12th minute of play, W&M’s Nicole Baxter played a corner kick into teammate Sami Grossi, who kicked the ball into ODU’s net with the back of her heel, giving the Tribe of William & Mary an early 1-0 lead over the Lady Monarchs. The goal was Grossi’s third of the season.

In the 17th minute, William & Mary’s Leci Irvin stretch the Tribe lead to 2-0, as Samantha Cordum and Sami Grossi were credited with the assist. The goal was Irvin’s second of the year.

W&M took the 2-0 advantage into the locker rooms with them at halftime, as they led the shot count 9-1 and corner kick tally 5-0. Old Dominion’s Erin Kinz made one first half save.

William & Mary's Samantha's Cordum made it a 3-0 lead for the Tribe, as her goal was assisted by Katie Johnston in the 60th minute of play.

Despite Old Dominion outshooting the Tribe in the second half (10-6), it was William & Mary who came out on top via a 3-0 decision on Friday night.  

For the contest, William & Mary fired off 15 shots compared to Old Dominion’s 10. The Tribe also led the corner kick count 7-4. W&M’s GK Caroline Casey finished the game with five saves; ODU’s Erin Kinz compiled four saves while protecting the onion bag.
