NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s soccer team set out to have its first official practice of the 2015 season on Thursday night; however, a local storm impeded those plans, so the Lady Soccer Monarchs took to the pitch again on Friday morning for their first full practice of the year.
Friday morning marked a session based on defending principles and competing. Second year head coach Angie Hind noted, “It is important to set the tone for the environment that we train, so we did a session working on one versus one defending and then built up to two versus two and game-type situations. It was really high intensity session, which the players love due to its competitive nature.”
Hind returns All Conference USA defender Natalie Johnson, as well as Madison Hogan who was selected to the C-USA All Freshman Team a season ago. The Lady Soccer Monarchs will take on Towson at the ODU Soccer Complex on Aug. 14 in the team’s only exhibition match. Old Dominion opens up the regular season at VCU on Aug. 21, before the home opener against Canisius on Aug. 23.
