IRVING, Texas – Old Dominion senior forward Josue Henriquez has been named Conference USA’s men’s soccer offensive player of the week, league officials announced on Monday.

Henriquez scored three goals in No. 24 ODU’s 4-1 victory over No. 25 Akron on Sunday evening. The hat trick was the program’s first since All-American Tim Hopkinson’s trifecta against VMI in 2013.

The Mesa, Arizona, native played just 16 minutes off the bench in the Monarchs’ season-opening loss to No. 21 Coastal Carolina, but then earned the start versus the Zips. The senior took full advantage of the opportunity, tallying three goals in just 56 minutes of action.

Henriquez scored a pair of goals in the first half off of assists from Christian Wirth and Ivan Militar. He netted the third goal early in the second half from freshman Niko Klosterhalfen.

A transfer from Phoenix College, Henriquez is in his second season at Old Dominion. Last year, the forward played in 17 matches, recording one goal and one assist.

In other C-USA news, New Mexico goalkeeper Jason Beaulieu was named the defensive player of the week. Read the conference’s full release here.

The Monarchs are back in action this weekend, traveling to Loyola (Md.) on Saturday, Sept. 5 for a 7 p.m. showdown.
