Old Dominion University athletics has announced internal promotions and additions to the athletic communications department staff.

Grant Gardner has been promoted to the position of Associate Director of Athletic Communications, and will oversee the publicity and media coordination for men’s basketball, women’s soccer and men’s and women’s tennis. Gardner joined the ODU athletic communications staff in 2012 as a graduate intern and in 2013 joined the staff full-time as the primary media contact for women’s basketball. He is a 2011 graduate of ODU and earned a Master of Science in Education degree from ODU in 2012.

Maggie Bonner has been promoted to the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications after serving a year as a staff assistant. Bonner, a 2012 graduate of Randolph-Macon College, will serve as the primary media contact for field hockey, women’s basketball and baseball. Prior to joining ODU in 2014, Bonner was an assistant sports information director at Washington and Lee.

Tim Wentz joins the ODU Athletic Communications staff as an assistant director. Wentz spent the past year as an assistant in the SMU sports information office. A 2014 graduate of Virginia Tech, Wentz will serve as the media liaison for men’s soccer, women’s lacrosse and women’s rowing.

Tristan Warner will serve as the graduate assistant for Athletic Communications. Warner, a 2015 ODU grad, was named the NCAA Elite 89 winner for two consecutive years in wrestling, awarded to the wrestler with the highest GPA at the NCAA championships. Warner is pursuing a master’s degree in sports management and will oversee the publicity for wrestling and men’s and women’s golf.
