ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Old Dominion men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Navy on Saturday night at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in Annapolis, Maryland. Senior midfielder Ryan Condotta scored the Monarchs’ lone goal.
With the draw, the Monarchs conclude the preseason with a 0-0-2 record. ODU also tied William & Mary, 2-2, earlier this week.
Old Dominion struck first in the match, with Condotta knocking home a penalty kick in the 23rd minute. ODU would carry the 1-0 lead into halftime, outshooting the Midshipmen, 8-5, in the opening segment.
The Monarchs would hold the Navy attack in check for most of the second half, until the 83rd minute, when the Midshipmen’s Michael Parker headed in a P.J. Suess free kick to even the score at 1-1. The final seven minutes remained scoreless, and the teams would tie at 1-1. No overtime was played.
Shots were even at nine apiece, with ODU holding a slight 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.
