NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men’s soccer team, ranked 24th in the NSCAA preseason poll, hosts its first exhibition match of the 2015 season against William & Mary on Monday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
The Monarchs are coming off of a 13-7-1 season in which they captured the 2014 Conference USA Championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
In the preseason Conference USA coaches’ poll, the Monarchs are picked to finish fourth, behind Charlotte, New Mexico and Kentucky.
ODU returns its second and third leading scorers from last season in senior midfielder Ryan Condotta and junior forward Jesse Miralrio, as well as redshirt junior goalkeeper, Alex Tiesenhausen. All three were named Third-Team All-Conference USA, while sophomore forward Tyler Edwards, who finished fifth on the team on scoring, was named to the All-Freshman team.
William & Mary returns 18 players from a squad that went 6-11-1 in 2014. The Trible have also added eight newcomers.
The Monarchs conclude their exhibition slate at Navy on Saturday, Aug. 22, before kicking off the regular season at home versus Coastal Carolina on Friday, Aug. 28.
