NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s soccer team took down Towson by a 1-0 score in the Lady Monarchs one and only exhibition match of the 2015 play.
After controlling possession in the early going, it was in the 23rd minute that ODU’s Thyla Peterson centered a ball from the left side of the field into the middle of the box which found Madison Hogan, who took a dribble before drilling a shot into the back of the net to give the Lady Monarchs a 1-0 advantage.
Old Dominion took the 1-0 lead into the locker rooms after the first 45 minutes of play, controlling the shot count 9-4, as well as the corner kick tally 5-3.
The Lady Monarchs fired off a total of eight more shots in the second half, while the Tigers attempted just two; however, neither team would score, giving ODU a 1-0 victory on Friday night. Towson took the only corner of the second 45 minutes.
Old Dominion’s Erin Kinz played the entire 90 minutes protecting the net, making one save while compiling a clean sheet for the scrimmage. Towson’s Taylor Sebolao made one save on the night.
