NORFOLK, Va. – The defending Conference USA champions and No. 24 preseason nationally ranked Old Dominion men’s soccer team held its first practice of the 2015 season on Thursday morning at the ODU Soccer Complex.
“We had a productive spring streamlining how we want to play, we made leaps and bounds,” explained ODU head coach Alan Dawson. “This is a great returning group with nine of 11 starters coming back. Monarch Nation can expect a very competitive team this year, it is going to be exciting; I am really looking forward to it.”
ODU returns its second and third leading scorers from last season in Ryan Condotta and Jesse Miralrio, as well as redshirt junior goalkeeper, Alex Tiesenhausen. All three were named Third-Team All-Conference USA while Tyler Edwards was named to the All-Freshman team.
The 2014 C-USA Tournament champions open the regular season on Aug. 28 against Coastal Carolina at the ODU Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m.
