Fall Camp Update - Day One

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University football opened fall camp Monday morning at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex practice field.

Per NCAA rules, the first practice is held in helmets only.

Highlights of day one:

  • The defense dominated the day, picking up several sacks, led by Oshane Ximines, who had a pair of sacks on the day and true freshman Casey Bernard.
  • Sophomore safety Andre Bernhard picked off a Shuler Bentley pass down the left seam and returned it all the way for a touchdown.
  • The highlight of the day for the offense was an acrobatic 45-yard catch by David Washington on a long pass down the left sideline from Bentley.
  • The lone offense touchdown on the day came from a 20-yard touchdown catch from Bentley to Blair Roberts.

The Monarchs are back on the practice field tomorrow morning, once again in helmets.

All practices except for the Aug. 22 scrimmage at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium are closed to the public. For updates, highlights, photos and interviews, stay tuned to ODUSports.com.
