IRVING, Texas – Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today that Old Dominion University men’s tennis player Carlos Lopez Villa was one of 18 recipients of the 2014-15 C-USA Scholar Athlete of the Year Awards, which are determined by the league’s Faculty Athletics Representatives. The C-USA Scholar Athlete of the Year awards are presented to the top student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport. The award is based on academic achievement (GPA), athletic achievement and service.

Scholar-athletes were selected from C-USA’s full-time and affiliate institutions in 17 sports (combining indoor and outdoor track & field). Rice led the way with four student-athletes receiving the Scholar Athlete Award, followed closely by UTEP with three representatives. Four student-athletes were repeat winners from a year ago.
