NORFOLK, Va. - Throughout the summer, Old Dominion head coach Angie Hind has continued to introduce the women’s soccer incoming class of 2015, this week’s newest addition is five-foot three-inch midfielder, Kira Laurento of Coatesville, Pa.

“I am thrilled to have Kira join us,” said Hind. “She will bring great qualities to our program. Her competitive influence as well as her creativity in the midfield will help strengthen this area of the field for us. As a person she is very driven and committed, which again fits well with our team environment. She has played at a high level and with a strong Penn Fusion team, which has undoubtedly helped to nurture the high standards she sets for herself. I am looking forward to having Kira as part of the team and welcome her as part of the Lady Monarch family.”

Laurento attended Coatesville High School, while playing club ball for the Penn Fusion Soccer Academy. She was named to the All Ches-Mont First Team during her freshman and sophomore campaigns. Laurento was rated a four (out of five) star and top 150 recruit by Top Drawer Soccer.

“I chose Old Dominion because of the overall positive atmosphere that it provides, athletically and academically,” explained Laurento. “I also chose ODU because of the growth and improvement of the team throughout last season. I’m most looking forward to a winning season, as well as the whole college experience.”

Kira Laurento joins seven others for the 2015 incoming Lady Monarchs class: Kyra Alexander (Reston, Va.), Iris Achterhof (Groningen, Netherlands), Sinead Tierney (Cheshire, England), Madison Morningstar (Woodbridge, Va.), Cristina Bashara (Norfolk, Va.), Kathryn Hill (North Ayrshire, Scotland) and Jordan Todd (Warrenton, Va.).
