NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University football featured eight players on the Athlon Sports preseason All-Conference USA Team, the publication announced on Wednesday.
Tyler Fisher and Zach Pascal were named to the second-team, Ray Lawry, Connor Mewbourne, TJ Ricks and Fellonte Misher received third-team accolades while David Washington and Poncho Barnwell were added to the fourth-team.
Pascal finished second on the Monarchs last season with 59 receptions for 743 yards and seven touchdowns. He notched a season-high nine catches at NC State.
Fisher started all 11 games he played in at left guard and the junior to be has started 17 career games.
Lawry was named the Conference USA Freshman of the year after rushing for 947 yards and 16 touchdowns. He led all Division I freshman with 7.1 yards per carry.
Mewbourne played in 11 games last season, starting 10 at left tackle. He is a two-year starter on the offensive line.
Ricks is ODU’s leading returning tackler with 80 stops and seven tackles for loss. He led C-USA with four forced fumbles.
Misher started all 12 games at safety for the second-straight season, notching 79 tackles and recorded four takeaways, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
In his first season at wide receiver, Washington caught 47 passes for 599 yards and four touchdowns. He recorded a season-best eight receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown in the overtime win against Louisiana Tech.
A junior college transfer, Barnwell led the Monarchs with 3.5 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss. He recorded 34 tackles on the year.
