NORFOLK, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2015 University Division Women's Lacrosse All-State Teams and Old Dominion had three players recognized.

Sophomore Connor Carson garnered First Team All-State honors, while juniors Morgan Gallagher and Ashmore Standing were named to the second team.

Carson, a First Team All-Atlantic Sun selection, started in all 18 games this season as a midfielder. She finished the year ranked third on the team with 46 points on 39 goals and seven assists. She also pulled in a team and conference leading 58 draw controls, which is also good for second on the single-season list in ODU’s record book, and caused a team-leading 29 caused turnovers to go along with her 33 ground balls. She finished the season ranked 25th in the nation in caused turnovers and 53rd in draw controls. During the year, she was named A-Sun Player of the Week after she notched five goals on seven shots to claim a .700 shots-on-goal percentage in two games. She also added 12 draw controls, tying a season-high with seven against Mercer. Defensively, she was also part of the unit that allowed just 14 goals in two games, including a second half shutout of KSU. The back line held Mercer to a .384 shooting percentage, forcing the Bears into 22 turnovers, and held KSU to 19 shots, including just one shot in the first 11 minutes of the second half.

Gallagher was a standout on the defensive line for ODU, earning First Team All-Conference and MidMajor Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American honors as a junior. She notched a team-leading 41 ground balls to go along with her 27 draw controls and 24 caused turnovers, helping the Monarchs rank 11th in the nation in caused turnovers (9.83) and eighth in ground balls per game (18.94). Gallagher scooped up a ground ball in 16-of-18 games and caused a turnover in 14-of-18 games played. She is also a standout in the classroom, earning Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team honors at the end of the season.

Standing led the Monarchs with 72 total points on the year, ranking second in the Atlantic Sun and 29th in the NCAA standings. She recorded 52 goals, which also ranked second in the Atlantic Sun and 26th in the nation, and dished out a team-leading 20 assists. Standing also added 28 ground balls, 20 draw controls and 24 caused turnovers. Standing notched at least a point in 17-of-18 games played and ranked 19th in the nation in points per game (4.00) and 20th in goals per game (2.89). She was named to the A-Sun Preseason Team and ended the year earning First Team All-Conference, All-Tournament Team and MidMajor Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American laurels.

The Monarchs finished the season 13-5 overall, which marked the most wins in a season since ODU went 13-5 in 2002, and posted a 6-1 mark in league play. ODU advanced to the A-Sun Tournament as the No. 2 seed, marking the programs first post-season appearance since 2009. The Monarchs also tied the program record for goals in a game twice this season, scoring 24 against Gardner-Webb (24-1) and Howard (24-6).
