JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Former Old Dominion University football student-athletes Josh Mann and Antonio Vaughan were invited by the Jacksonville Jaguars to tryout at rookie mini camp this coming weekend
Vaughan and Mann make it five Monarchs from the 2014 football senior class that will be in rookie mini camp. They join Taylor Heinicke (Vikings), Rick Lovato (Bears) and Larry Pinkard (Packers). Former ODU basketball player, Richard Ross, received an invitation to tryout at Minnesota’s rookie mini camp this weekend.
Vaughan led the Monarchs with 63 receptions for 1,019 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2014 and earned First-Team All-Conference USA honors.
A native of Ahoskie, N.C., Vaughan leaves ODU as the career record holder with 230 receptions, 3,267 receiving yards, 33 receiving touchdowns and 37 total touchdowns. He also holds the school record with two punt return touchdowns. The 220 receiving yards he had against Western Kentucky this season was the second most in school history, while his three touchdowns against Middle Tennessee tied a school record.
Mann was a three-year starter on the offensive line for the Monarchs, starting 35 games at center. He helped the ODU offense average more than 400 yards per game all three seasons he started and was named First-Team All-Conference USA center in 2015.
A native of Virginia Beach, Mann was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, CoSIDA Academic All-District and was recently honored with the distinction of National Football Foundation Honor Society.
