Old Dominion power forward Richard Ross agreed to a free-agent tryout with the NFL Minnesota Vikings. bringing the number of Monarchs who will be in NFL mini-camps this month.
Ross's agent, David Sullivan, said he is headed to the Minnesota Vikings. Ross played high school football at Hirschi High School in Wichita Falls, TX., where he finished second in the state in the high jump (6'10") and set the regional record in the long jump with a 24-1 3/4.
Ross completed his career at ODU with 981 career points and 725 career rebounds along with 214 career blocked shots. He ranks fifth all-time at ODU in blocked shots.
Ross helped lead ODU to a 27-8 record this year as the Monarchs advanced to the semifinals of the NIT. He scored 15 points on seven-for-seven shooting in the semifinal loss to Stanford at Madison Square Garden. Four times during his career at ODU, one of his game dunks were rated in the top 10 on ESPNSports Center.
