IRVING, Texas – Old Dominion’s freshman Adam Moundir has been named the Conference USA Tennis Athlete of the Week, as announced by conference officials on Tuesday afternoon. The Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor is the first of the season and career for Moundir.

Moundir had himself quite a week on the tennis courts and was instrumental in two Monarch team victories. Adam started the week with an 8-4 doubles win over the No. 72 ranked tandem in the NCAA from South Alabama (Daniel Leitner/Gerhard Gruindelingh). The victory lifted ODU to claiming the match’s coveted double’s point, which proved to be crucial. Moundir then was first to finish in singles against the Jaguars, beating Juan Troglia in straight sets (6-2, 6-1). The Tennis Monarchs were able to avenge a loss last week against USA, taking down the No. 66 nationally ranked Jaguars by a 4-3 score.

Then on Sunday afternoon, Adam had his way against C-USA foe Stepan Vancurik of UAB (6-3, 5-0) before the Blazer had to retire due to injury on Court No. 2. In doubles against UAB, Moundir and partner Michael Weindl got the better of Christian Coetzee/Stepan Vancurik by a score of 8-2. ODU later claimed the double’s point and the team victory. Moundir is now 11-4 in singles play and has won six of his last seven matches as a true freshman.
