RALEIGH, N.C. – The Old Dominion University women’s soccer team handed N.C. State a 1-0 loss on Saturday, April 4, in what was the third of five spring games for the Lady Monarchs. ODU is now 2-0-1 in its first three spring games of the year.

"This game was a little spoiled by the strong winds; however, I think we used the conditions to our advantage in the first half and in the second were solid defensively,” said head coach Angie Hind. “A great team effort and another valuable game for us. We are delighted to get a win on the road against an ACC opponent."

32 minutes into the windy match, Old Dominion scored off a long punt from GK Sam Frowen, which was cleverly flicked on by Natalie Johnson and with great anticipation Madison Hogan slotted it past the Wolfpack goalkeeper.

ODU had other attempts during the first half from Melanie Oakes, Grace Haverly and Natalie Johnson but couldn't add to the lead.

In the second half ODU was up against the wind and did well to battle and limit N.C. State’s chances on goal, leading to a 1-0 Lady Monarch victory.

Next up for Old Dominion will be its fourth spring game against CNU on Sat., April 4, at 5:00 p.m. in Newport News, Va.
