BUFFALO, N.Y. - Old Dominion University senior diver Rachel Eckert became the first Monarch diver in school history to qualify for the NCAA CHampionships with a third place finish in the 3-meter dive at the NCAA Zones in Buffalo, N.Y.
A four-time NCAA Zones qualifier, Eckert finished third behind Virginia Tech's Kelli Stokes and UConn's Taryn Urbanus. Eckert scored a total of 624.95 points, just three points behind Urbanus.
Freshman Cory Moreno competed in the men's 1-meter dive and earned a 39th place finish.
Eckert and Moreno will compete again tomorrow starting at noon with Eckert doing the 1-meter dive and Moreno in the 3-meter dive.
