ODU Heads to the Golden State for Two Non-Conference Matchups

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion lacrosse is going on its longest road trip of the season, as the team heads to California to take on UC Berkley and UC Davis on March 8th and 10th.

The Monarchs have never faced UC Berkley and is 0-1 against UC Davis after falling to the Aggies by a 12-6 score last season.

The Monarchs enter the matchup with a 4-2 record after falling to Richmond (15-8) on Wednesday night. Megan Cameron, Connor Carson and Ashmore Standing led the offense with two goals apiece. Carson also tallied a team-high five caused turnovers and two ground balls. Jessica Liberty chipped in with a goal and an assist. Karen Hayde and Maggi Buckley split time in goal for the Monarchs, as they both combined for nine saves.

Standing ranks first on the team in goals, assists and points so far this season. She has notched 18 goals and dished out eight assists to total 26 points. Jessica Liberty and Connor Carson are not far behind Standing, as they recorded 19 and 14 points, respectively. Liberty has recorded 14 goals and five assists, while Carson has notched 14 markers. Carson is tied with Standing in caused turnovers (13), while she leads the team with 13 ground balls. Gallagher is second in caused turnovers (9) and has scooped up 11 ground balls. Hayde has played the majority of time in goal for ODU and has registered a 10.92 goals-against average and a .425 save percentage.

UC Berkley is coming off a close 16-14 loss to Michigan and is 1-2 on the season. Gaby Christmas led the Bears with four goals and one assists to  go along with her three caused turnovers, three ground balls and three draw controls. Sasha Anielski added three goals and two assists. Helen Hansen suffered the loss, playing 41:40 in goal and making four saves.

Anielski and Huther lead the team with 11 points each, while Christman and Lizz Lavie have notched 10. Christman also leads the team with six caused turnovers and six ground balls, while Chloe Landry ranks first with 12 draw controls.

The Aggies of UC Davis are 1-2 on the season and play Marquette before facing the Monarchs on Wednesday. Melissa Kellan and Elizabeth Landry lead the Aggies with 10 points on the year. Kellan has notched 10 goals, while Landry has seven goals and three assists. Landry also chips in with a team-leading 18 draw controls. Kai Murphy has played the most minutes in goal for UC Davis and has recorded a 9.62 goals-against average. She has made 26 saves so far this season, which is good for a .500 save percentage.
