With the beginning of spring football practice just a few weeks away, ODUSports.com will preview each position before the first day of practice.  Today's preview we take a look at the tight ends.

Tight End
For the first time in a few years, Old Dominion has several tight ends on its roster.  The only player who resembled a tight end in 2014 was wide receiver, Melvin Vaughn.  Vaughn occasionally lined up as a tight end or h-back but mostly as a wide receiver.  He is not one of five players listed as a tight end.  Of the five, sophomore T.J. Boothe is the only player to play in 2014 and the walk-on played in 10 games seeing action on special teams.

The Returners
Boothe is the only player to play in 2014 but did not see any action on offense.

The Newcomers
Redshirt freshman Adam Swann is a 6-5, 230 pounder with good hands and is learning to play the position.  He is joined by walk-on’s Josh Kiefer Banfalvy, Justin Cooper and Chris Robinson.

By The Numbers
0: The number of tight ends on the roster the last two seasons.
5: The number of tight ends this season.
4: Number of career touchdown catches by Kai Blanco, the last true tight end for the Monarchs.
