NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion lacrosse continues its conference slate with two road games in the state of Georgia this weekend. The Monarchs will take on Mercer on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. and then travel to Kennesaw State for a match-up on Saturday at noon.

ODU enters the weekend with an 8-4 overall record after posting a 1-1 showing last week. The Monarchs fell to the defending Atlantic-Sun Conference champions, Jacksonville, by a 14-4 margin, but bounced back to defeat Stetson two days later, 13-8 to notch their first A-Sun win of the year.

Sophomore midfielder Connor Carson led the Monarchs with five goals on just seven shots to notch a 71.6 shooting percentage. She scored two goals against Jacksonville and found the back of the net three times in the win over Stetson. She also added three draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls to her stat line. Maggi Buckley played the majority of time in goal for the Monarchs and earned her first start of the season against Stetson. She recorded 16 saves on the week and an 8.86 goals-against average.

Junior attacker Ashmore Standing is the only Monarch to reach 40+ points so far this season. She leads the team with 41 total on 29 goals and 12 assists. Standing and senior attacker Jessica Liberty are tied for first on the team with 29 goals, while Carson is second with 24. Carson also leads the defense with a team-high 22 caused turnovers. Junior captain Morgan Gallagher ranks second with 18 caused turnovers, but leads the team with 28 ground balls.

The Bears enter the matchup with the Monarchs with a 3-6 overall record and a 0-2 mark in conference play. Lindsey Zeltwanger leads Mercer offensively with 15 goals and 12 assists to total 27 points. Kate Leon is not far behind with 25 points on 19 goals and six assists on the season. Fiona Stockton leads the back-line with 15 caused turnovers and 26 ground balls. Haleigh Wurzel has played the majority of time in goal for the Bears and has made 95 saves. She has notched a 49.0 save percentage and a 13.20 goals-against average.

Kennesaw State is 3-9 overall so far this season and 0-2 in the conference. The Owls will take on Howard on Thursday, April 2 before they face the Monarchs on Saturday. Sydney Farwick leads the offense with 31 points on 26 goals and five assists, while Taylor McGhee adds 23 goals and three assists to total 26 points. Laura Jordan paces the defense with 18 caused turnovers and 29 ground balls. Allison Senft has played the most time in goal for the Owls and has recorded a 14.90 goals-against average and has stopped 98 shots.
