NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion lacrosse team is back on the road, as they head to Richmond to take on the Spiders on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.

ODU is 24-18 all time against Richmond in a series that started in 1980. The Monarchs took the first game by a 14-3 margin, while the Spiders won last year, 9-5.

The Monarchs enter the matchup with a 4-1 record after falling to Virginia Tech (17-4) and defeating Davidson (10-8) last weekend. Ashmore Standing paced the offense with seven goals and two assists to go along with her four caused turnovers and three ground balls. Karen Hayde directed the back line between the pipes, as she has played 78:47 in goal for the Monarchs and stopped nine shots. Maggi Buckley saw 41 minutes of action against the Hokies and stopped five shots. Morgan Gallagher has started to come into her own defensively, as she finished the weekend with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Standing ranks first on the team in four different categories so far this season. She is first in goals (16), assists (8), points (24) and caused turnovers (12). Her point, goal and assist totals rank second in the conference, while she leads the Atlantic-Sun in caused turnovers. Jessica Liberty and Connor Carson are not far behind Standing, as they both are in double-digit points. Liberty has recorded 17 points on 13 goals and four assists, while Carson has notched 12 markers. Gallagher is second behind Standing in caused turnovers (9) and has scooped up 10 ground balls. Hayde has played the majority of time in goal for ODU and has registered an 8.82 goals-against average, which ranks fourth in the conference.

Richmond is 3-2 on the season and is coming off a 13-10 victory over Liberty on Feb. 28. No Spiders have reached double-digit points, but Emily Doyle is the closest with nine points on four goals and five assists. Charlett Stevenson and Bailey Zerr are second on the team with seven total points. Stevenson has notched seven goals, while Zerr has five goals and two assists and a team-leading 22 draw controls. Katie Cahill leads the back line with five caused turnovers and eight ground balls. Emily Boyce has played the majority of time in goal for the Spiders, stopping 34 shots to garner a 10.08 goals-against average and a .425 save percentage.
