HUNTINGTON, W.V. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (17-10, 10-6) will put its three-game winning streak on the line Thursday, March 5, against Marshall (16-11, 8-8) at the Cam Henderson Center with tipoff slated for 6:00 p.m. EST.

WHAT’S ON THE LINE
With two regular season contests remaining, Old Dominion currently sits alone in the No. 4 slot of the Conference USA standings, while Marshall enters the week in the No. 9 slot. The top four teams from the regular season will receive a first round bye in the C-USA Tournament next week in Birmingham, Alabama.

HOW TO TUNE IN
Thursday’s contest will be audio streamed live through Monarch Media on ODUSports.com and will also air live on STAR 1310 AM Hampton Roads with Doug Ripley (Voice of the Lady Monarchs) handling the duties. The live pregame show will begin at 5:30 p.m. EST.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Thursday’s contest will be the fifth all-time meeting between the Thundering Herd of Marshall and the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs. During the last encounter between these two teams, the Lady Monarchs lost to the Thundering Herd at the Ted by a 69-37 margin on January 8, 2015.

ABOUT THE LADY MONARCHS (17-10, 10-6)
Old Dominion enters Thursday’s contest on a three-game winning streak after taking down LA Tech, Rice then North Texas (in order) over the past two weeks. ODU sports a 17-10 overall record along with a 10-6 C-USA mark and an impressive 8-4 record away from the Ted.

With two regular season games remaining, each against conference foes, Old Dominion has already surpassed its in-conference win total from last season of nine (out of 16 total regular season conference games last year).

ODU currently is first in the conference for field-goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 37.3% shooting. Old Dominion also sits atop the C-USA rankings for defensive rebounds, averaging 28.8 per outing. The Lady Monarchs are allowing 61.0 points per game. Old Dominion averages 15.5 forced turnovers a contest. ODU currently sits second in Conference USA for average attendance, drawing 2,733 fans to each home game at the Ted. ODU sits at the top in the conference for defensive rebounds, averaging 28.8 per contest.

Jennie Simms ranks 49th in the country and second in the conference in points per game, netting 18.4 a contest. Simms also leads the squad in rebounds, grabbing 7.7 boards a contest. Tiffany Minor shoots 32% from deep, which is fourth in the conference for 3PT%, while she is fourth in the conference in three-point field goals per game averaging 2.04. Destinee Young is fifth in the Conference USA blocked shots per game ladder, averaging 1.33 an outing.

Tiffany Minor averages 7.9 points to compliment 5.0 rebounds per game. Ashley-Betz White currently leads the squad in assists (81) and steals (41), while averaging 6.7 points a ballgame. Destinee Young is Old Dominion’s second leading rebounder averaging 6.4 per contest, with 66 of her 174 total boards coming on the offensive end. Young is the Lady Monarchs leading shot blocker with 36 rejections so far this season.

ABOUT MARSHALL (16-11, 8-8)
Marshall enters Thursday’s contest with a 16-11 overall record and an 8-8 C-USA mark. The Thundering Herd have posted an 8-3 record while playing at home, and a 7-7 record on the road (1-1 neutral). Marshall is coming into Thursday’s game after falling to Florida Atlantic by a 73-83 margin.

Marshall averages 66.6 points per contest, while giving up 60.6 points per game to their opponents. The Thundering Herd force 15.7 turnovers a game and only give the ball up 13.6 times per contest.

The Thundering Herd is lead by senior forward Leah Scott who is averaging 14.6 points-per-game and 6.5 rebounds-per-game and by senior guard AJ Johnson, 10.9 ppg and 1.9 rpg.
