NORFOLK, Va. – Future Monarch Ben Schram, from Bellbrook High School in Ohio, became the fifth wrestler to win four NHSCA National titles, as he took home the 170-pound trophy on Sunday afternoon.
Schram went a perfect 4-0 on day one to advance to the final round of the 170-pound bracket. He defeated Maykel Dolorit from Florida in spectacular fashion in the first round, winning by a fall in 1:45. In the second round, Schram took down Jaquon Sowell (N.C.) by a 3-1 decision to advance to the quarterfinals where he defeated Ricky Regas (Texas) by a 7-1 decision.
In the semifinal round, Schram posted a 3-2 decision over Cody Cordes from Pennsylvania to move to the championship bout for the fourth time in his career. Schram claimed his fourth title in four years after taking down Jordan Bushey from New York by a 6-3 decision to earn All-American honors.
Seldon Wright also competed in the finals, but fell to No. 6 in the country Dayton Racer from Iowa by a 3-0 decision to place second. Brandon James placed fourth in the 132-pound bracket and Andrew Pacheco rounded out the results with a sixth-place finish at 285 pounds. All three grapplers also earned All-American status.
