Ruston, La. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (14-10, 7-6) will take on LA Tech (14-11, 9-5) on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 3:00 p.m. EST. at the Thomas Assembly Center. The contest will air live on FOX Sports Network (see attachment for details).

LA Tech currently sits fourth in the Conference-USA standings, while ODU sits in a tie with Marshall for sixth.

Sunday’s contest will also be audio streamed through Monarch Media on ODUSports.com and will air live on ESPN 94.1 FM Hampton Roads with Doug Ripley (Voice of the Lady Monarchs) on play-by-play and Susan Montgomery (former Lady Monarch assistant coach) handling the color duties. The live pregame show will begin at 2:30 EST.

ALL-TIME SERIES
15-5 in favor of LA Tech
Sunday’s showdown will be the 21st all-time meeting between the Lady Techsters and the Lady Monarchs. This series dates all the way to the first meeting during the 1978-79 season. The last time these two schools met was on Feb. 26 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center, which resulted in a 75-64 Old Dominion victory.

The last time ODU played in Ruston was on Feb. 9, 1991, which resulted in a 76-68 Lady Techsters win.

ABOUT THE LADY MONARCHS (14-10, 7-6)
Old Dominion enters Thursday’s contest with a 14-10 overall record along with a 7-6 C-USA mark with an impressive 7-4 record away from the Ted. ODU currently is fourth in the conference for field-goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 37.7% shooting. The Lady Monarchs are allowing 60.8 points per game. Old Dominion averages 15.9 forced turnovers a contest.

Jennie Simms ranks 46th in the country third in the conference in points per game, netting 18.6 a contest. Simms also leads the squad in rebounds, grabbing 7.5 boards a contest. Tiffany Minor is fifth in the conference in three-point field goals per game averaging 1.91. Destinee Young is sixth in the Conference USA blocked shots per game ladder, averaging 1.17 an outing.

Tiffany Minor averages 7.8 points to compliment 4.7 rebounds per game. Chelisa Painter is averaging 6.8 ppg to go along with 4.0 boards a contest.

Ashley-Betz White currently leads the squad in assists (66) and steals (37), while averaging 7.6 points a ballgame. Destinee Young is Old Dominion’s second leading rebounder averaging 6.7 per contest, with 59 of her 153 total boards coming on the offensive end. Young is the Lady Monarchs leading shot blocker with 27 rejections so far this season.

ABOUT LA TECH (14-11, 9-5)
Louisiana Tech enters Saturday’s contest with a 14-11 overall record and a 9-5 C-USA mark. Lady Techsters have posted a 7-3 record while playing at home, and a 6-8 record on the road. Louisiana Tech is coming into today’s game on a three game winning streak going back to February 12. In their wake they have toppled FAU, FIU and Charlotte.

Louisiana Tech averages 70.6 points per contest, while giving up 68.9 points per game to their opponents. The Lady Techsters force17.8 turnovers a game, but give the ball up 16.6 times per contest.

The Lady Techsters are led by senior forward Whitney Frazier who is averaging 14.9 points-per-game and 6.4 rebounds-per-game and by redshirt-senior guard Kelia Shelton, 13.4 ppg and 5.2 rpg.
