NORFOLK, Va. – Senior goalkeeper Karen Hayde of the Old Dominion lacrosse team was recently named the Atlantic Sun Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. She was selected A-Sun Athlete of the Week from a pool of nominees for her performance during the week of February 9-15.
Hayde helped lead the team to a 22-1 victory over Gardner-Webb in their season opener in Boiling Springs, N.C. She allowed just one goal in her 55 minutes of action, while stopping five shots on goal.
She currently leads the conference in save percentage (83.3), goals-against (one) and goals-against average (1.09). She also ranks seventh in the conference in saves (5), while ranking third among goalies that have played just one game this season.
Senior attack, Jessica Liberty, was also named an A-Sun Offensive Player of the Week nominee. She led the Monarchs’ offense against GWU with five goals and two assists, while also recording four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
