NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University women’s soccer head coach Angie Hind has announced the team’s 2015 spring schedule, which consists of five matches between March 1 and April 19. Four of the five games will be played against an in-state foe, as three of the five contests will be held at the ODU Soccer Complex.
Two of the Lady Monarchs spring opponents ended the 2014 season with top 100 RPI’s: VCU and William & Mary.
“This is an exciting spring schedule we have and one that I believe will provide great opposition for us, which is essential for our continued development as a team,” said Hind. “I see the spring as such an important time for us to improve in all aspects and the players have already shown their hunger to step up. The key is now to add consistency to our training environment, whether on the practice field, gym or game field we must strive to show that same intensity, commitment and competitive edge on a daily basis. I think our spring program combined with these very competitive matches provide the ideal opportunity for us to make a big step this spring.”
Old Dominion will play its first spring game on Sunday, March 1, at N.C. State at 2:00 p.m. The Lady Monarchs will return home for a showdown with VCU on Sunday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m.. The Rams ended last season ranked No. 71 in the final RPI calculations.
ODU will remain at home for its third match of the spring season on Sunday, March 29, against Longwood at 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, April 11 at 5:00 p.m., Old Dominion will travel to Newport News to battle Christopher Newport.
The women’s soccer program will then hold an Alumni Game/Brunch on Saturday, April 18 at the ODU Soccer Complex.
The following day, the Lady Monarchs will wrap up 2015 spring competition on their home field against William and Mary on Sunday, April 19, at 1:00 p.m. The Tribe finished last season No. 87 in the final RPI count.
