NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (8-5, 1-1) will play host to the No. 25 Western Kentucky Lady Toppers (13-2, 2-0) on January 10 at the Ted Constant Center at 2:00 p.m. The game will mark each squad’s third Conference USA contest of the 2014-15 season.

HOW TO TUNE IN
Saturday’s contest will be video streamed live in HD through Monarch Media on ODUSports.com and will also air live on ESPN 94.1 FM Hampton Roads with Doug Ripley (Voice of the Lady Monarchs) on play-by-play and Susan Montgomery (former Lady Monarch assistant coach) handling color duties. Doug and Susan’s live pregame show will begin at 1:30 p.m.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Saturday’s contest will be the 16th meeting between the Lady Toppers of No. 25 Western Kentucky and the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs. The last encounter resulted in an Old Dominion loss at home of 63-73 on March 1, 1991, back when both schools were conference rivals in the Sun Belt Conference. The series dates back to 1983 when the two teams first met here in Norfolk when they played in the Field House.

ABOUT THE LADY MONARCHS
Old Dominion enters Saturday’s contest with an 8-5 overall record along with a 1-1 C-USA mark while compiling five wins out of eight attempts at the Ted. The Lady Monarchs are currently ranked 55th in the nation and lead the conference for most blocked shots per game (4.6). Destinee Young is 82nd on the country’s blocked shots per game ladder, averaging 1.75 an outing, which also leads the conference.

The Lady Monarchs are allowing 62.2 points per game, while opponents shoot 39.9% from the floor against ODU. Old Dominion averages 16.2 forced turnovers a contest.

Jennie Simms has led the Lady Monarchs so far this season with 17.1 points and 6.2 rebounds. In the game against Charlotte, she set a new career high of 25 points against Charlotte in only 26 minutes of play. Chelisa Painter is averaging 9.2 ppg to go along with 5.2 boards a contest. Tiffany Minor averages 7.7 points to compliment 5.4 rebounds per game.

Ashley-Betz White currently leads the squad in assists (44) and steals (22). Destinee Young is Old Dominion’s leading rebounder averaging 6.8 per contest, with 37 of her 88 total boards coming on the offensive end. Young is the Lady Monarchs leading shot blocker with 21 rejections so far this season.

ABOUT No. 25 WESTERN KENTUCKY
For the first time since the 1997-98 season, WKU Lady Topper Basketball has returned to the Associated Press Top 25 Rankings, coming in at 25th in the nation. It is the first time in 17 years that the Lady Toppers have found themselves ranked in the poll.

The No. 25 Lady Toppers enter Saturday’s game with a 13-2 record (2-0 C-USA) for the 2014-15 season. No. 25 Western Kentucky is coming into the game on a two game win streak after beating Marshall and Charlotte, their first two games of Conference USA play.

They look to their senior guard Chastity Gooch, who is averaging 18.1 points-per-game and 8.3 rebounds-per-game and senior guard/forward Alexis Govan, who is averaging 17.7 points-per-game and 5.7 rebounds-per-game.
