MIAMI, Fla. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (12-7, 5-3) will travel to FAU (10-8, 4-3) on Saturday, January 31 at FAU Arena in Boca Raton, Fla. at 5:00 p.m. EST.

Saturday’s contest will be audio streamed through Monarch Media on ODUSports.com and will also air live on STAR 1310 AM Hampton Roads with Doug Ripley (Voice of the Lady Monarchs) on play-by-play and Susan Montgomery (former Lady Monarch assistant coach) handling color duties.

ALL-TIME SERIES
1-0 - Old Dominion leads

Saturday’s contest will be the second meeting between the Owls of FAU and the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs. The last encounter resulted in an Old Dominion win of 80-44 at the Ted Constant Center on January 18, 2014. The Lady Monarchs hold the series at 1-0.

ABOUT THE LADY MONARCHS
Old Dominion enters Thursday’s contest with an 12-7 overall record along with a 5-3 C-USA mark with an impressive 5-2 record away from the Ted.

Jennie Simms ranks 75th in the country and sixth in the conference in points per game. Tiffany Minor is fifth in the conference in three-point field goals per game averaging 2.17. Destinee Young is 82nd on the country’s blocked shots per game ladder and first in Conference USA, averaging 1.75 an outing.

The Lady Monarchs are allowing 60.8 points per game, while opponents shoot 38.5% from the floor against ODU. Old Dominion averages 15.9 forced turnovers a contest.

Jennie Simms has led the Lady Monarchs so far this season with 16.9 points and 6.7 rebounds. Chelisa Painter is averaging 7.5 ppg to go along with 4.4 boards a contest. Tiffany Minor averages 7.1 points to compliment 5.1 rebounds per game.

Ashley-Betz White currently leads the squad in assists (50) and steals (31). Destinee Young is Old Dominion’s second leading rebounder averaging 6.4 per contest, with 48 of her 116 total boards coming on the offensive end. Young is the Lady Monarchs leading shot blocker with 24 rejections so far this season.

ABOUT FAU
The Owls enter Saturday’s game with a 10-8 record (4-3 C-USA) for the 2014-15 season. FAU is coming into the game after beating FIU on January 24th with a score of 77-63 and Charlotte (71-68) on January 29th, in Conference USA play.

They look to their sophomore guard Shaneese Bailey, who is averaging 17.0 points-per-game and 6.1 rebounds-per-game and junior guard Ali Gorrell, who is averaging 14.8 points-per-game and 6.8 rebounds-per-game.

FAU finished eighth last season in Conference USA Women’s basketball with a 16-14 overall record and 6-10 in C-USA. They currently sit eighth in the conference standings for the 2014-15 season, just behind the Lady Monarchs in seventh.
