NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (10-6, 3-2) will play host to the Blue Raiders from Middle Tennessee (10-5, 4-1) on January 22 at the Ted Constant Center in Norfolk, Va. at 7:00 p.m. Thursday night’s ballgame will also mark Barefoot Night, in which ODU head coach Karen Barefoot will coach the contest in her bare feet, in order to benefit Samaritan’s Feet.

HOW TO TUNE IN
Thursday’s contest will be video streamed live in HD through Monarch Media on ODUSports.com and will also air live on STAR 1310 AM Hampton Roads with Doug Ripley (Voice of the Lady Monarchs) on play-by-play and Susan Montgomery (former Lady Monarch assistant coach) handling color duties.

ALL-TIME SERIES
1-2, Middle Tennessee
Thursday’s contest will be the fourth ever meeting between the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee and the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs. The last encounter resulted in a 62-49 Old Dominion loss in Murfreesboro on January 25, 2014.

ABOUT THE LADY MONARCHS
Old Dominion enters Saturday’s contest with a 10-6 overall record along with a 3-2 C-USA mark with a 5-2 record away from the Ted.

Jennie Simms ranks 69th in the country and second in the conference in points per game, averaging 17.4. She is just behind upcoming opponent Olivia Jones (21.2) of Middle Tennessee for the first place nod in the conference. Tiffany Minor is fifth in the conference in three-point field goals per game averaging 1.94. Destinee Young is 166th on the country’s blocked shots per game ladder and seventh in Conference USA, averaging 1.31 an outing.

The Lady Monarchs are allowing 61.4 points per game, while opponents shoot 39.2% from the floor against ODU. Old Dominion averages 16.3 forced turnovers a contest.

Jennie Simms has led the Lady Monarchs so far this season with 17.4 points and 6.3 rebounds. In the game against No. 25 Western Kentucky, she set a new career high of 26 points against WKU in her 33 minutes of play. Chelisa Painter is averaging 8.3 ppg to go along with 4.9 boards a contest. Tiffany Minor averages 7.6 points to compliment 5.4 rebounds per game.

Ashley-Betz White currently leads the squad in assists (48) and steals (27). Destinee Young is Old Dominion’s leading rebounder averaging 6.6 per contest, with 44 of her 105 total boards coming on the offensive end. Young is the Lady Monarchs leading shot blocker with 21 rejections so far this season.

ABOUT MIDDLE TENNESSEE
The Blue Raiders enters Thursday’s game with a 10-5 record (4-1 C-USA) for the 2014-15 season. Middle Tennessee is coming into the game after beating Louisiana Tech 82-59 in Conference USA play.

They look to their redshirt-junior forward Cheyenne Parker, who is averaging 16.8 points-per-game and 9.5 rebounds-per-game and sophomore guard/forward Olivia Jones, who is averaging 21.2 points-per-game and 9.3 rebounds-per-game.

Middle Tennessee were the Conference USA Women’s basketball champions last year and currently hold the second place slot in the conference standings for the 2014-15 season. The Blue Raiders went to the NCAA Tournament and made it to the first round before getting knocked out by Oregon State 36-55.

Thursday’s match-up is the first game of the two game home stand for the Lady Monarchs, as they face the Blazers of UAB on Saturday January 24 (2pm) for Alumni Day.
