NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (9-6, 2-2) will travel to play against the Mean Green of North Texas (2-13, 1-3) on January 17 at the Super Pit in Denton, Texas at 5:00 p.m.

Saturday’s contest will air live on STAR 1310 AM Hampton Roads with Doug Ripley (Voice of the Lady Monarchs) on play-by-play and Susan Montgomery (former Lady Monarchs assistant coach) handling color duties. Fans can also access the audio stream via Monarch Media on ODUSports.com.

Saturday’s contest will be the second meeting between the Mean Green of North Texas and the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs. The last encounter resulted in an Old Dominion loss 52-68 in Denton on February 8, 2014.

ABOUT THE LADY MONARCHS
Old Dominion enters Saturday’s contest with an 9-6 overall record along with a 2-2 C-USA mark. The Lady Monarchs are currently ranked 77th in the nation and lead the conference for most blocked shots per game (4.3). Destinee Young is tied for 117th on the country’s blocked shots per game ladder, averaging 1.50 an outing, which also leads the conference.

The Lady Monarchs are allowing 62.6 points per game, while opponents shoot 39.4% from the floor against ODU. Old Dominion averages 15.9 forced turnovers a contest.

Jennie Simms has led the Lady Monarchs so far this season with 17.1 points and 6.4 rebounds. In the game against No. 25 Western Kentucky, she set a new career high of 26 points against WKU in her 33 minutes of play. Chelisa Painter is averaging 8.5 ppg to go along with 5.0 boards a contest. Tiffany Minor averages 7.4 points to compliment 5.3 rebounds per game.

Ashley-Betz White currently leads the squad in assists (46) and steals (24). Destinee Young is Old Dominion’s leading rebounder averaging 6.4 per contest, with 39 of her 96 total boards coming on the offensive end. Young is the Lady Monarchs leading shot blocker with 21 rejections so far this season.

ABOUT NORTH TEXAS
The Mean Green enters Saturday’s game with a 2-13 record (1-3 C-USA) for the 2014-15 season. North Texas is coming into the game after losing to Charlotte 58-67 in Conference USA play.

The Mean Green look to their senior forward Briesha Wynn, who is averaging 11.7 points-per-game (leads team) and 7.1 rebounds-per-game (leads team) and senior guard BreAnna Dawkins, who is averaging 8.5 points-per-game and 3.9 rebounds-per-game.
