TAMPA, Fla. – Old Dominion University senior quarterback Taylor Heinicke has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg on Saturday, Jan. 17.
Heinicke joins an elite list of football greats, such as John Elway, Tom Brady, Brett Favre, and 70 NFL Hall of Famers, who have played in the East-West Shrine Game in addition to more than 265 East-West Shrine Game alumni currently on NFL rosters.
Heinicke finished his senior season completing 289-of-457 passes for 3,476 yards and 30 touchdowns while also running for 139 yards and two touchdowns. He finishes his career with three-straight seasons of 3,000 or more passing yards and 30 or more touchdown passes.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Heinicke completed his career with 14,959 passing yards, 16,279 yards of total offense and 132 touchdown passes. He ranks sixth all-time among Division I (FBS and FCS) quarterbacks in passing yards and touchdown passes, and fourth in total offense.
So far, 65 players have accepted invitations, including from Conference USA, Florida Atlantic’s Damian Parms.
