BERKELEY, Calif. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (7-3) will travel to Berkeley, Calif. for a stab at the Cal Bears (7-3), with tipoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EST at the Haas Pavilion.

DID YOU KNOW
Cal has been to at least the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament in each of the past three seasonS, with a Final Four appearance being made in 2012-13.

Monday’s contest will be audio streamed live via Monarch Media on ODUSports.com and will also air live on STAR 1310 AM Hampton Roads with Doug Ripley (Voice of the Lady Monarchs) handling the duties.

ALL-TIME SERIES
2-2, Tie
The Lady Monarchs and Cal Bears have played a total of four times prior to Monday night’s meeting, with each school wining two games, respectively. The last time these two programs met was on Nov. 30, 2012, when Cal defeated Old Dominion by a score of 63-47.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS WITH THE LADY MONARCHS
Old Dominion enters Monday’s contest on a two game winning streak with a 7-3 overall record after key wins at Virginia Tech, against VCU and on a neutral court against UIC. Monday’s ballgame will also mark the Lady Monarchs non-conference finale for the 2014-15 regular season. Old Dominion currently sits in a tie with Marshall (7-3) for second place in Conference USA standings, as WKU sits atop with a 10-2 overall mark in non-conference play.

The Lady Monarchs are only allowing 60.3 points per game, while opponents shoot just 38.7% from the floor against ODU. Old Dominion averages forcing 15.8 turnovers and 7.5 steals a contest.

Jennie Simms earned Most Outstanding Player honors at the 2014 South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. last week after leading the Lady Monarchs to two victories in as many tries. Simms has led ODU so far this season with 16.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest.

Chelisa Painter is also averaging double figures (10.3 ppg) to go along with 6.2 boards a ballgame. Tiffany Minor averages 8.4 points to compliment 5.5 rebounds per game.

Ashley-Betz White currently leads the squad in assists (32) and steals (19). Destinee Young is Old Dominion’s leading rebounder averaging 6.8 per contest, with 27 of her 41 total boards coming on the offensive end. Young is the Lady Monarchs leading shot blocker with 18 rejections so far this season.

ABOUT CAL (7-3)
Cal was selected as the preseason favorite to win the Pac-12 conference title. This is the highest that the Bears have been selected in the preseason poll by the media, ending a string of 15 consecutive seasons that Stanford was the preseason No. 1.

The Golden Bears enter Monday’s contest with a 7-3 overall mark, after most recently falling to No. 10 Louisville at home by a score of 70-57 on Dec. 21. Cal is 4-1 at home when playing at the Haas Pavilion so far this season. The Bears are not currently nationally ranked; however, they have been ranked as high as No. 14 earlier this season.

Four players average double figures for Cal to this point, as Reshanda Gray leads the way with 19 ppg and 5.6 rpg. Courtney Range (14.3 ppg/8.1 rpg), Brittany Boyd (13.8 ppg/7.8 rpg) and Mikayla Cowling (14.4 ppg/4.9 rpg) also average 10 or more points per contest. As a team, Cal averages 78.4 points per game.

In Case You Missed It
Dec. 3, 2014 marked the first ever sellout at the Ted Constant Center (8,472) for the Old Dominion women’s basketball team, in a game that Lady Monarchs cruised past Howard by a score of 75-54.

The crowd of 8,472 is the seventh highest attendance ever in the state of Virginia to watch a regular season college women’s basketball game. The crowd was also the second largest for a Lady Monarchs regular season game ever, the first coming on Feb. 20, 1981 when the Norfolk Scope drew 10,277 to watch ODU fall to LA Tech, 75-59.
