NORFOLK, Va. – The women’s basketball game with Howard on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. is a sellout, marking the Lady Monarchs’ first sell-out in the Ted Constant Convocation Center. The contest marks the 4th annual Education Day game with the Norfolk Public Schools, when elementary schools throughout the school system attend the game. This year’s game anticipates more than 7,000 school children to attend, up from 6,300 last year, with 34 of 34 schools participating. Last year’s attendance of 8,104 was the highest Lady Monarch attended game at the Ted, which opened in October of 2002. Capacity is 8,472 for women's games.
The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (3-2) will play host to the Howard Bison (0-6) on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at the Ted Constant Center at 11:00 a.m.
HOW TO TUNE IN
Wednesday’s contest will be video streamed live in HD through Monarch Media on ODUSports.com and will also air live on ESPN 94.1 FM Hampton Roads with Doug Ripley (Voice of the Lady Monarchs) on play-by-play and Susan Montgomery (former Lady Monarch assistant coach) handling color duties.

Wednesday’s contest will be the first ever meeting between the Bison from Howard and the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs.
ABOUT THE LADY MONARCHS
Old Dominion enters Wednesday’s contest with a 3-2 overall record. The Lady Monarchs are only allowing 57.4 points per game, while opponents shoot 37.3% from the floor against ODU. Old Dominion averages forcing 14.4 turnovers a contest.
Jennie Simms has led the Lady Monarchs so far this season with 16.0 points and 7.4 rebounds. Chelisa Painter is also averaging double figures (11.4 ppg) to go along with 7.0 boards a contest. Tiffany Minor averages 8.8 points to compliment 6.2 rebounds per game.
LAST YEAR'S EDUCATION DAY
With the help of 8,086 loud elementary school children from the Norfolk Public Schools and fans, the Lady Monarchs smashed their attendance record for home games since opening the Ted Constant Convocation Center on Wednesday, Dec. 4, as they defeated U.Mass Lowell, 90-57.
In the third year of hosting "education day" with the Norfolk schools, 32 schools and 6,127 children attended the 11 a.m. game, transported on 126 school buses and Venture Bus Tours buses.
ABOUT HOWARD
The Bison enter Wednesday’s game with a 0-6 record for the 2014-15 season. So far, it has been Ty’Shya Heslip (14.3 ppg/4.0 rpg) and Cheyenne Brown (12.5 ppg/4.2 rpg) leading Howard in its first six ballgames. The Bison average a total of 58.7 points per game on offense while allowing 77.0 a contest.
Second-year Lady Bison head coach Tennille Adams has a split squad to work with – seven returners that saw significant action in 2013 and seven skilled newcomers that will look to contribute to Howard’s success.
