Lady Monarchs Fall at No. 10 Louisville, 100-46

LOUISVILLE, Kent. – In the fifth ever meeting between Old Dominion (5-3) and the Louisville Cardinals, it was No. 10 nationally ranked Louisville (9-1) who came out on top by a score of 100-46 on Monday night at the KFC Yum! Center in front of 7,726 fans.

Louisville used 52 percent shooting from the field, including 64.3 percent from 3-point range as seven Cardinals netted double figures to lift UofL over ODU.

With 13:55 to play in the opening half, the Cardinals jumped out to a 20-5 advantage before extending their lead to 45-16 with 4:03 to play in the first half.

Louisville would take a 54-19 lead into the locker rooms at halftime behind 44.2% (19-43) shooting from the floor and a sizzling 62.5% (5-8) from downtown.

Leading the way for Old Dominion were Annika Holopainen (five points, one rebound and one assist) and Tiffany Minor (five points, two assists, one rebound and one steal).

Old Dominion and Louisville exchanged baskets to open the second half, as each team scored nine of the half’s first 18 points, bringing the score to 63-28 at the 14:57 mark. The Cardinals extended their advantage to 72-35 with 10:51 remaining in the contest.

UofL closed the ballgame on a 28-9 run, lifting the No. 10 ranked Cardinals to a 100-46 victory over the Lady Monarchs on Monday night.

Destinee Young (five rebounds) and Chelisa Painter (six rebounds) led the way for Old Dominion, as they each netted eight points. Holopainen finished the contest with seven points to compliment four rebounds, while Odegua Oigbokie scored six and hauled down three boards.

Mariya Moore (15 points, five assists and five rebounds) led the way for the Cardinals, followed by Sara Hammond (14 points and eight rebounds), Myisha Hines-Allen (12 points and eight rebounds), Jude Schimmel (12 points, 10 assists and six rebounds) Bria Smith (11 points and six rebounds).

For the game, Old Dominion hit 29.9% (20-67) of their shot attempts, 14.3% (3-21) from downtown and 37.5% (3-8) from the charity stripe. Louisville shot 52.0% (39-75) from the floor, 64.3% (9-14) from three and 68.4% (13-19) from the free-throw line.
